The MVG lies on the route of Water Tunnel Number 3, the third aqueduct for New York City and one of our largest public works projects. The tunnel has been under construction for over 50 years.
Beneath the grass of the MVG site is a Water Tunnel Number 3 access pipe like the one below. There are many such sites throughout New York City.
The work on our site, Shaft 21B, was started in November 2001, when this newsletter was published.
