At the end of April, 14 tiny new swamp oaks appeared on the Kent Ave side of the Myrtle Village Green. Since then, one of them died for lack of water. We need to save our trees. Two things you can do:
1. Call 311 and ask them to water the trees.
2. Work with Jerry from Myrtle Pets to set up a system to water the trees. He is asking for a key to the fire hydrant. Call him (718) 783-6298 to find out when the bucket brigade begins!
I have been calling 311 as well as community board 3 about the trees since they were planted.
If you’re feeling really motivated to care for these trees in the long-term, adopt one online and get all the info you need to care for them properly at (link fixed): milliontreesnyc.org/html/programs/stewardship_corps.shtml
